Ben Blyth

Born and bred in Market Harborough, I grew up playing in the local parks, attended local schools and joined a local Scout group.
I played football for Harborough Town as a youngster and have come full circle, with my business now sponsoring the club, specifically kit sponsor of Harborough Town Ladies - ‘The Queen Bees’. My other interests include running - particularly being part of the local parkrun community - football, music and travel.

At the earliest opportunity I started work and began my first paper round aged 12 - and so began my work ethic! I took on rounds in the morning, afternoons and at weekends. I also worked in retail and hospitality locally before entering the world of financial services.

My building society career started in 2007, working as a cashier at The Cheshire Building Society - a move away from where I’d grown up. I spent a few years gaining experience in branch based banking and by 21 was a Branch Manager. In 2014 my career bought me home - to Market Harborough Building Society - where I started working specifically with mortgages as a lender.

I founded Houz Mortgages in 2022, with the objective of bringing my specialist experience to offer fee-free mortgage advice to Market Harborough, and even beyond through the use of technology. We are now based in an office in Ashley, just a short drive out of Market Harborough, and I’m pleased to say the team is expanding in 2023.

I am also a Trustee for the Market Harborough Building Society Charitable Foundation - in this role I love being part of an organisation that gives back to the local community.
